School and Group Visits
The Friends of Nonsuch offer pre-arranged
Group and School visits from March to October.
Visit us to see how the Farmer family were served in the 19th and 20th Centuries by their staff. The Butler and Footmen, Housekeeper and Parlour and Laundry maids, Cook, Kitchen, Scullery and Dairy maids. Servants usually began their employment at a young age- even as children and they worked from very early morning until late in the evening to serve every whim of their employer. Our friendly stewards will show and explain the many artefacts on display- including churns in the dairy, the old cooking ranges and kitchen tools on the dresser. There are several larders/pantries, including a Game larder and in the Laundries there are mangles, an early washing machine, a large collection of irons, and the original boiling copper and pump from 1806. |
The Loose Box Gallery has a collection of restored Stained glass
from the Mansion and in the Nonsuch Gallery is a model of the magnificent Palace of Nonsuch built by Henry
VIII.
